Annual Princeton University Art Museum Picnic and Family Movie Night
August 3 • 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Celebrate summer with the Princeton University Museum at the annual summer picnic on the lawn. Enjoy barbecue fare, live music, and family-friendly activities. Cosponsored by the Princeton YMCA. Bring a blanket and stay until sunset for a family movie night featuring the G-rated “March of the Penguins,” an 80-minute movie directed by Luc Jacquet.
At the end of each Antarctic summer, the emperor penguins of the South Pole journey to their traditional breeding grounds in a fascinating mating ritual that is captured in this documentary. After the egg is hatched, the female must delicately transfer it to the male and make her way back to the distant sea to nourish herself and bring back food to her newborn chick. Narrated by Morgan Freeman.
The event takes place in the Little Hall Courtyard, which is near the location of the art museum construction and Cleo and Whig halls, just across from Witherspoon Hall.Â
