Artist Talk and Reception for Gwenn Seemel

August 16 • 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Artist Gwenn Seemel, whose exhibit, “Everything’s Fine: Surreal Paintings About Mental Health,” is on view at Princeton Public Library, will discuss her work Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m. in the newsroom at the library.

“The collection is called ‘Everything’s Fine’ because I want to make it clear that I know everything’s not,” Seemel said in her artist’s statement. “There’s the virus, whose long-term impact is still to be determined, as well as the ever-scarier threats of global warming and the daily trauma of systemic racism, misogyny, gun violence, and the unrelenting political divide. Amidst these pressures, I don’t want anyone to think they’re the only one struggling with anxiety or depression.”

Presented in partnership with the Mayors Wellness Campaign community health initiative, Seemel’s exhibit will be on view through Oct. 15 in the library reading room.
