Patrick Pun, the Author of Peng Nei Peng Wai (In/Outside the Dubbing Studio), will talk about foreign Film dubbing and distribution history over the past 70 years in Mainland China, discussing both the social development background in China and the personal lives of famous dubbing professionals during that period, especially during the cultural revolution.
Patrick, the son of famous dubbing actress Ms. Guangning Liu, grew up in the foreign film dubbing and music/opera community. He has been the witness first-hand of dubbing professionals’ lives inside and outside the studio during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s. Based on his experiences and in-depth insights, plus 13 interviews to 13 dubbing actors/actresses as well as family members of late dubbing professionals, Patrick wrote the book “In/outside Dubbing Studio.” This book was listed on several “Best Seller” lists in China. “The Soul of Voice”, the enlarged edition of “In/Outside Dubbing Studio”, will be launched on September 2019 and the audio book “Red Shoes of Gods” will also be launched by the end of 2019.
Patrick has worked with the directing department of the Shanghai Film Studios. After moving to Hong Kong in early 1990s, he has worked with government department and multinational companies such as Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Heineken, and GMI. Patrick Pun is Chairman & CEO of Surpassdata Limited, a Consumer Big Data and Panel Research Company. He is the Vice President of China Association of Market Information and Research and the China Marketing Research Association. He is also chairman of the Supervisory, Shanghai Information Service Association, is a member of the China Digital Marketing National Standard Committee, a member of the Shanghai Writers’ Association, a member of the Shanghai Film Association, director of Shanghai Film Criticism Society, a visiting professor and a master’s degree supervisor of Shanghai University of Engineering Science. Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree from the Shanghai Theater Academy in China and his MBA degree from the University of Calgary, Canada.
