Celebrate National Poetry Month at Morven Museum & Garden
April 13 • 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free – $10
As the home of one of America’s first published female poets, Morven Museum & Garden offers a unique space to make connections and explore different meanings in literature and poetry. Join Morven and People & Stories/ Gente y Cuentos (P&S/GyC) for a special program celebrating National Poetry Month this April.
Community members will gather in person for a 90-minute oral reading of a literary short story and structured group discussion in Morven’s garden. The reading and discussion will be led by a coordinator trained in the People & Stories/Gente y Cuentos’ method, which invites participants to draw upon their own life experiences to analyze the poetics, tensions, shadows, and themes found within the text.
The event is offered in-person only. Space is limited to 20 participants. The program is free for Morven members. Light refreshments will be served.
The program will be held outside in Morven’s gardens, weather permitting. In the event of rain, we will meet in the museum’s Stockton Education Center.
