You are cordially invited to join Community Arts/ ArtSpace for a wonderful workshop led by artist Ruthann Perry!
We will be making painted floorcloths for our February workshop!
A floorcloth, or floor-cloth, is a cloth painted by an artist or home decor enthusiast used as a customizable alternative to rugs. Some artists have elected to use floorcloths as a medium of expression. Most modern floorcloths are made of heavy, unstretched canvas with two or more coats of gesso. They are then painted and varnished to make them waterproof. These “canvas” rugs had their start in 18th century England. Initially used by the wealthy, the designs and patterns mimicked parquet flooring, tile and marble.
We will be making Modern, American Floorcloths!
So join us on Monday, Feb. 5 at the beautiful art studio – ArtSpace – at HomeFront Family Campus at 6 PM (check in at 5:45 PM). Cost is $20 and supplies are included. Your cost sponsors a HomeFront student!
