Calling all art lovers, space enthusiasts, astrophysicists, astronomers, star gazers, and beer tasters the universe over as Maja Opačić premiers her collection of art at Triumph Brewing Company in Princeton.
Maja’s Spacescapes collection of canvas painting and watercolors are inspired by the images of the universe: galaxies, planets, nebulae, star clusters, and sun storms. More than thirty works of various sizes and subjects will be on display throughout the brewery, adding a cosmic ambience to a Halloween night.
Maja (pronounced like “Maya”) was born in the former Yugoslavia and received formal training at the Academy of Arts and Conservation in Belgrade. In 2012, she moved to the United States and is currently a freelance artist. Growing up in the countryside of Yugoslavia, Maja was able to look into the night sky filled with stars. Her fascination with space and the cosmos returned in the late 2000s with the explosion of new books, television shows and documentaries about the universe and all its wonders, including the availability of new photographs taken by Hubble and other space telescopes. These images have become so much a part of our daily lives and popular culture that capturing them in art gives them the homage they deserve. Her work has been exhibited at the VAM Art Gallery in Metuchen and the Gold Light Gallery in New Hope, Pa., as well as shared through the Hubble Space Telescope’s official pages on Facebook and Twitter.
The Spacescapes exhibition will run from October 31 through the end of January. For more information including samples of her work, please visit Maja’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/majaopacic.art
