Evidence of Breathing
April 8 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm $43
Evidence of Breathing is a series of short meditative exercises. The elements used for these exercises are breath, charcoal and paper. (This is not an art class.) The goals of these meditations is to train the mind to quiet and detach from expectations. Participants will find these practices to be soothing for body and mind. Another surprising result will be visual representations of breathing.
For the first portion of the workshop participants keep the eyes closed and follow the breath as the body moves to create circles using charcoal on paper. Ones awareness will be fixed at the point where charcoal touches the surface. After completing a variety of meditations a blue or green watercolor wash is applied with one stroke using a deep inhale/exhale, eyes open.
For the second portion of the workshop participants keep the eyes open and follow the breath along the lines of an asana. Participants can take turns holding simple floor poses. After completing a variety of meditations a blue or green watercolor wash is applied with one stroke using a deep inhale/exhale.
There will be a discussion and examples of Zen Enso circles, which is closely related to this method.
This workshop will also include two 10 minute group yoga sessions.
This is a 2.5 hour meditative focused seminar led by Yoga teacher Dan Fernandez and will include:
- Train the mind to maintain unbroken awareness of breath
- Detach the mind and become free from expectation and planning
- The act of making nothing leaves evidence of mindful breathing
- Gentle yoga breaks and open discussion of experiences
- Framable and dated keep sake of your mindful breathing
