Free Choirs for Children and Youth

An event every week that begins at 4:30pm on Wednesday, repeating until October 24, 2018
New singers – and ringers – are invited to the choirs of Princeton United Methodist Church, says Hyosang Park, music director. There is no charge to be in a choir, and singers do not need to be church members.
“No matter what your faith, you are welcome to praise God with the very best in music,” says Park, “everything from Bach cantatas and praise songs, to musicals staged by children and youth, to anthems rung by our handbell choir.”
Tom Shelton, a nationally renowned composer and director who is an assistant professor at Westminster Choir College, directs the children and youth. Starting Wednesday, September 12, school-age children learn the basics of singing and music theory through the songs of their Christian faith. Grades kindergarten and first rehears from 4:30 to 5:15. Grades 2-5 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Shelton teaches preschool children during their Sunday morning class. Children praise God in worship once a month and at special services, such as the Christmas pageant and spring musical. Email Tom@PrincetonUMC.org
Teen singers continue their musical adventures with Shelton as part of a Sunday evening youth program that includes supper and United Methodist Youth Fellowship led by Rev. Skitch Matson, discipleship pastor. The first youth rehearsal is Sunday, September 9, 5 to 6:15 p.m. Email Skitch@PrincetonUMC.org
