HAZELNUT PLANTING THIS SUNDAY, April 2, 2-4pm: Come help the Friends of Herrontown Woods plant some rescued local native hazelnuts in forest clearings near Veblen House. We’ll plant, stake, and protect with wire fencing. Ground still moist, so dress accordingly. We’ll also do some cleanup, including mending recent damage to the lawn, where trucks made deep ruts and spilled some road salt. If you can’t do the physical work, come lend moral support and hear the latest news. We’ll have refreshments. Kids welcome. Park down the driveway across the street from 443 Herrontown Rd, or walk up from the Herrontown Woods main parking lot.
The Friends of Herrontown Woods (FOHW) is a nonprofit actively restoring the trails, history and flora of HerrontownWoods. Our goal is to honor the extraordinary legacy of Oswald and Elizabeth Veblen, who left this first Princeton nature preserve, their house, cottage and farmstead in the public trust.
