Princetonians may recognize the name, KC Wu. He is a Princeton local that over the last 10 years has been quietly working to redesign and perfect the luxury wristwatch.
What is so different you might ask?
He has secured a utility patent for the world’s first and only concave crystal watch.
So what’s the big deal?
Traditionally, watch faces are either flat or bow out. This watch’s face actually dips in slightly. This gives it a distinctive look that you can’t get with any other watch.
But as stated, the patent is for its utility, not its appearance.
The concave face makes it much easier to read the watch, since it both reduces glare and magnifies the dial. Not only that, but the shape of the lens also protects the watch from being scratched, which is typical through normal wear and tear.
KC will be showcasing the watch at an event at Hamilton Jewelers on Oct 14th.
