Experience the exciting jungle adventure of Roxey Ballet’s Mowgli – Based on Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book
A young man raised by wolves and tempered by the dangers of the jungle, Mowgli struggles to find his way to a village populated by this own kind. Drawn from the stories of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, Mowgli sets virtuosic choreography by artistic director Mark Roxey against vivid sets that capture the wildness of the protagonist. An evocative score by Czech composer Milan Svoboda, meanwhile, mingles traditional orchestration with anthemic set pieces that draw on European pop music and Svoboda’s other callings as a jazz pianist, bandleader, and part-time wolf.
Mowgli is a family-friendly performance for children of all ages. The story itself teaches audience members that one should let go one’s fears and move forward.
The production is directed by Mark Roxey, director and co-founder of this acclaimed professional company, and features more than 100 costumes designed by Alicia Worden and Nilda Roxey and unique lighting design by Jeffrey Goldstein. Complemented by an international star cast of professional performers, Roxey Ballet draws on the abundant local talent pool from neighboring communities, including Lambertville, New Hope, Hopewell, Titusville, Lawrenceville, Pennington, Ewing, and Princeton.
