Opera | Nixon in China (The Princeton Festival)
June 23 @ 3:00 pm - 5:45 pm
An event every week that begins at 3:00pm on Sunday, repeating until June 30, 2019
Nixon in China is a contemporary masterpiece, transforming the details of Richard Nixon’s visit to the People’s Republic of China in 1972 into a story of deep emotion and political conflict. You may know the headlines, but as Nixon sings: “News has a kind of mystery.” A work of magnificent musical storytelling with an acclaimed score by John Adams and an inspired libretto by Alice Goodman, Nixon in China encourages us to think deeply about the power of performance and the nature of political speech. It is truly an opera for our time. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 609.258.2787, or in person at the McCarter Theatre Ticket Office at 91 University Place in Princeton. Visit princetonfestival.org for tickets and information. Ticketholders for the June 23 opening performance of the opera are cordially invited to a free “Meet the Artists” post-opera reception.
