Play: Between Two Knees
February 1 • 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$35Between Two Knees is a co-production with the Seattle Rep in association with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Yale Repertory Theatre, directed by Eric Ting. Between Two Knees is an outrageously funny and wickedly subversive intergenerational tale of familial love, loss, and connection. This first play by the acclaimed intertribal sketch comedy troupe the 1491s fractures traditional narratives of the United States through the lens of the Native American experience. Smashing through where most textbooks stop teaching Native history—the 1890 massacre at Wounded Knee—Between Two Knees take us from the forced re-education at Indian boarding schools, through World War II, the Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, the 1973 takeover at Wounded Knee, and maybe even breaks time itself.
Between Two Knees Post-Show Discussion with Members of the Creative Team – Sunday, Feb. 5, and Saturday, Feb. 11 in the Matthews Theatre immediately following the 2 p.m. matinee performance. An in-depth moderated post-show conversation with members of the Between Two Knees Creative Team, followed by a Q&A with members of the audience.
This post-show discussion, moderated by McCarter Artistic Engagement Manager Paula Alekson, will include Between Two Knees Director Eric Ting and McCarter Director of Artistic Initiatives and Between Two Knees Production Dramaturg Julie Felise Dubiner.
