Spring Cleanup at the Princeton Battlefield
Saturday, March 31st – 1:00 to 4:00 pm
Meet at the Clarke House
500 Mercer Street
Princeton, NJ 08540
(weather postponement date Sat., April 7)
PRINCETON-Newcomers and friends, join us on March 31st, 1pm – 4 pm, for “Cleanup Day at the Battlefield” with the Princeton Battlefield Society, the Sierra Club, and the Civil War Trust. Since 1996, the Civil War Trust has sponsored Park Day, an annual nationwide hands-on preservation event to help Civil War — and now Revolutionary War and War of 1812 — battlefields and historic sites take on maintenance projects, both large and small. The Princeton Battlefield Society is pleased to participate in the Civil War Trust’s Park Day in conjunction with the annual cleanup event that we sponsor with our partners at the Central Jersey Group of the Sierra Club. Each participant will receive a free T-shirt (while supplies last)! This year, we will have four teams – each with a team leader:
Team 1 – Brush Removal from “Island” between Clarke House and Institute Woods;
Team 2 – Historic Back Road Pathway Removal of Small Brush and Bamboo;
Team 3 – Removal of Invasive Porcelain-berry from Dogwoods near Colonnade; and
Team 4 – Stick Pickup Around Shed for Young Kids.
We sincerely thank our partners, the NJ Sierra Club’s Central Jersey Group and the Civil War Trust. This annual event brings history enthusiasts together in an effort to help keep our nation’s heritage not only preserved but pristine as well.
