Light Painting is a highly inventive form of art photography using handheld lights to paint in a scene while the shutter is left open during a long exposure. Learning the basics of light painting gives us new ways to creatively experiment with the color and qualities of the light source and play with the aesthetics of the photograph.
Since Light Painting is most intriguing at night, our class will launch at 6:00 pm with a concise introduction to the science, techniques and tools of light painting, before we head outdoors to make art. Erin will demonstrate using each tool and technique, then we’ll split into groups for collaborative creation. You will leave the workshop with dramatic, imaginative and surprising images for your portfolio.
