Princeton Pro Musica and the Roxey Ballet Present ‘Carmina Burana’
March 17 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$10 – $45
The Princeton Pro Musica chorus and orchestra and Lambertville’s Roxey Ballet present an encore performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, which played to sold-out audiences in 2017. Artistic Directors James Ryan Brandau (Princeton Pro Musica) and Mark Roxey (Roxey Ballet) have again collaborated to bring a fully realized production of the work as Orff intended, combining music, movement, and text, to the stage.
Carmina Burana draws from a collection of early 13th-century songs and poems—more than 1,000 of them, written in a mix of Latin, German, and medieval French—that was discovered in Beuren in 1803. Orff chose 24 songs and set them to music in what he termed a “scenic cantata.” Originally conceived as a choreographed stage work, Carmina Burana is rarely presented with dance today.
There will be a post-concert talk-back with Maestro Brandau and Mark Roxey at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are priced at $60, $45 and $25, $10 (under 21). There is a group discount of 20% for 10 or more. Order tickets online at www.princetonpromusica.org. For information on group sales, call (609) 683-5122.
