Sarnoff Titanic Event

April 14 • 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

R.M.S. Titanic struck an iceberg at 11:35pm on April 14 1912 and sank 2 hours later early on April 15. Over one thousand five hundred people died; new and emerging radio technologies played highly prominent roles in the tragedy and aftermath. As a trained Marconi Wireless Corporation telegraph operator, Sarnoff Collection namesake David Sarnoff participated directly in communications with the doomed vessel; a telegraph key at the Sarnoff Collection comes from his personal collection.

Join us for live music from the official R.M.S. Titanic songbook, demonstrations of telegraph messaging, highlights from some Titanic-related films, and Titanic-themed mocktails.
