March 16 • 4:15 pm
FreeJoin our guest speaker, Dr. Charlotte Ward of Princeton University, for a free talk in the Museum’s Planetarium to learn about one of the hottest topics in modern astronomy! Did you know that almost every galaxy has a supermassive black hole hiding in its center? In this talk, Dr. Charlotte Ward will take you on a tour of the supermassive black holes across the cosmos, from our very own Milky Way to the farthest reaches of the visible Universe. She will explain how astronomers detect black holes at various distances from Earth, and present recent discoveries on how these black holes first formed about 13 billion years ago.
