The Princeton Garden Theatre, Princeton Public Library, and Labyrinth Books Princeton welcome writer and director Whit Stillman for a Q&A following a screening of his latest film “Love & Friendship.”

“Love & Friendship” is a humorous Jane Austen adaptation. Kate Beckinsale plays a beautiful widow who visits her in-laws estate to escape uncomfortable social rumors. While there, she decides to find husbands for herself and her daughter. Based on Austen’s 1794 novella Lady Susan (unpublished during her lifetime), this amusing film is replete with gossip, witticisms, and restrained charm.

Based on the unfinished Jane Austen novella “Lady Susan,” Whit Stillman has also written a novelization of the film also titled “Love & Friendship” which has been published by Little, Brown and Company.

Following a screening of the film, Stillman will be taking questions from the audience and signing copies of the book. The book will be available for purchase at the theater before the screening.

The Q&A will follow the 6:30 p.m. screening. You can purchase tickets for the event online.
