Soil & Light: A Poetry Event at the Farminary
September 15 • 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeYou are invited to embrace creativity and creation at “Soil + Light: A Poetry Event at The Farminary.” Featuring accomplished poets Camille T. Dungy and Tess Taylor, the reading Friday, Sept. 15 at 7pm is FREE to everyone. For those interested in deeper conversation or writing workshops with our guests, see details on all the opportunities at the registration link.
Camille T. Dungy’s latest book, “SOIL: The Story of a Black Mother’s Garden,” revels in the pleasures and vexations of tending the earth, while bringing to light the traumas and overlooked qualities of gardening while Black. She shows us how careful attention to what grows, and how we accompany flourishing, might yield not just delicious and delightful gardens, but good theology.
In “Leaning Toward Light: Poems For Gardens & the Hands That Tend Them,” celebrated poet and avid gardener Tess Taylor has assembled the brightest voices in contemporary poetry – including Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Ada Limon, and Ross Gay – to sing of flowers and failures in and beyond the garden.
