Come celebrate the fairy tales featured in the Cotsen Children’s Library’s current exhibit “Once Upon New Times: Reimagining Children’s Classics.” But we’ll be shedding some light on those old tales – and we mean it quite literary! Using the provided supplies, you can create your very own stained glass window of your favorite story. View our gallery of original windows, take a peek at the glass art of the University Chapel, and play with color and shapes at our light tables!

We’ll also be joined by artist Karen Caldwell from Sunflower Glass Studio, who will be sharing “Stained Glass through the Ages.” Karen will chat about the centuries of 2-D art glass, from the ‘hand-painted’ Medieval and Renaissance glass techniques, the late 1800’s ‘painting with glass,’ to our modern fused glass. She’ll be bringing examples of each era of stained glass windows, the different types of glass used and the tools to create her art.

Please note that the hands-on project does include paint. Dress for mess is highly recommended.
