The Arts Council of Princeton Summer Courtyard Concert Series presents Michael Austin

August 23 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The 35th annual Summer Concert Series features the best in local and regional jazz, folk, world, rock and blues. Join us every Thursday, 6–8 pm, from June 21–August 23.

In partnership with the Princeton Shopping Center and Edens, the Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) presents Michael Austin on Thursday, August 23 at 6 p.m. in the Princeton Shopping Center, 301 North Harrison Street, Princeton, NJ.

Michael Austin, native of Baltimore, MD is an example of many things. He is a mentor, leader, musician, teacher and public speaker, to name a few. In May of 1975, Michael, 26 at the time, was sentenced to life plus fifteen years for armed robbery and murder, crimes he did not commit. During the next 10 years, while incarcerated, Austin started a jazz band and music programs. He continued to educate himself and others on music theory, composing, and voice training. On December 28, 2001, Austin’s prayers for freedom had been answered. All charges were dropped and Michael was released and granted a full pardon. Michael Allen frequently travels all over the east coast and internationally, to share his story and talents with others.

This concert is sponsored by Princeton Integral Yoga Community Center. Enter into a raffle and get a free class! Winning ticket will receive one month free membership! To enter the raffle and for more information about musical programs, meditation, yoga & more at Princeton IYCC, please call 609-454-3140.

Concerts will be held rain or shine. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket! In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be held in a covered area at the Princeton Shopping Center. Ample parking is available at the Princeton Shopping Center.
