The Color Line on the Baseball Diamond

Join historian and film producer Lawrence Hogan, Negro league’s last team Captain of the Kansas City Monarchs and All Star James Robinson, and poet Kevin Kane for a multifaceted presentation on the complex relationships in “Blackball” during America’s era of segregation. Included are clips from Hogan’s documentary Before You Can Say Jackie Robinson: Black Baseball in New Jersey and America and Kevin Kane’s rendition of his original poem “K.C. at the Bat,” a black version of the iconic “Casey at the Bat.” Ticket includes same-day museum admission. The museum will remain open until 6 p.m. This program is funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
