The Controversial Verdi

October 6 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Boheme Opera NJ Artistic Director Joseph Pucciatti will be the featured presenter on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 5 p.m. Pucciatti’s topic is “The Controversial Verdi,” a look at the background, story and music behind the composer’s “Rigoletto,” planned for the company’s 31st season in spring 2020. Despite initial problems with Austrian censors who controlled Northern Italian theaters in the19th century, the opera had a triumphant premiere at La Fenice in Venice.

Dorothea’s House is located at 120 John Street in Princeton. Doors open for the presentation at 4:45 p.m.; the lecture is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring refreshments to share at the reception following the program.
