La Convivencia brings diverse people together to bridge their differences through mutual respect, community service, civic engagement, and community dialogue. With the rise in antisemitism, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and other forms of bigotry nationwide, La Convivencia’s work is more important now than ever before.
The Human Library, which will meet monthly, will initiate a community dialogue to allow participants of other cultures, faiths, and ethnicities to interact. The Human Library is an event where real people are on loan to readers.
For the first event, please consider being a “book” and share 1-2 stories about your life/perspective/culture/religion that others might not know about you. You can also be a reader, and have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about your “book.”
By sharing our opinions in these conversations, not only will the group challenge stereotypes, prejudice, and hate, but also also try to break them. In addition to the meetings, interactive workshops and presentations will be held to engage participants of all ages.
