The Trenton City Museum presents Our Town: Works by Mel Leipzig
July 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Trenton legend and retired Mercer County Community College professor of art Mel Leipzig shares his unique view of the Trenton area in Our Town,a new exhibit at Ellarslie, the Trenton City Museum in Cadwalader Park. A dozen large-scale portraits of family, friends and colleagues from his adopted city are on display at Ellarslie from July 12 through September 8. The exhibit opens Friday, July 12, with a public reception from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Leipzig is nationally known for his particular use of five-point perspective, and for revealing the personalities of his subjects by showing them in a detailed home or work environment. His use of a limited palate conveys his subjects in a way that is both arresting and compelling. At once intimate and universal, his works draw the viewer in to closely examine the minutia of the everyday lives of his subjects.
