The second annual Watershed Trail Run and Festival offers a 10K and 5K course. The event supports the efforts of Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association to protect and restore clean water and a healthy environment in central New Jersey.
Joining the event is Bennett Beach, 67, a Boston Marathon runner who is trying to complete his 50th consecutive Boston Marathon run on April 17.
The new separate 5K and 10K routes are designed to tour the different types of habitat featured on the Watershed Reserve with views of meadow and forest. The path tours the pond ecosystem, parallels fields, forest, wetlands, and the Honey Brook Organic Farm.
Family and friends can cheer you on from victory village, tour our new Watershed Center, and listen to live music by the race day band, “The Dadz”. The festival will also have beer and wine available for purchase and food from Antimo’s Italian Kitchen.
Supervised activities for children are available inside the Watershed Center, starting at 12:30 p.m. while a parent is running the trail. There is a $10 fee per child and each child must be pre-registered. In addition, the Greater Mercer Public Health Partnership will hold a family walk at 3 p.m. as well as classes and demonstrations during the afternoon-long festival.
Race day winners, both men and women, in each run will receive a $100 cash prize. A souvenir water bottle will be given to those with the top times by age group. Please find the race details and course description online. Discounts are available for runners who are youth, students, and Watershed members. Pre-registration is recommended and is discounted, but day of registration will be accepted.
