Wednesday Night Contra Dance
January 4 • 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Contra Dance is a folk dance made up of long lines of couples usually ascribed to New England or the Appalachian region. It has mixed origins from English Country Dance. Scottish, and French dance styles in the 17th century, and also possesses strong African influence from Appalachia.
This dance is free for those 35 and under! Come at 7:30 p.m. for the Basics in Contra Dance Workshop, or 8 p.m. for the first dance.
Social dancing, no partner or experience required, break for refreshments around 9:15 pm.
Requirements for admission to the dance:
~One-time showing of proof of vaccination, eg a CDC card, an Excelsior Pass, etc.
~One-time signing of waiver provided by SPC
~Masks are required. (KN95, N95, or KF94 are strongly recommended)
~Refreshments will be provided during the break, outside, weather permitting.
~Booster vaccinations are required for anyone 18 or older whose last vaccination was at least 6 months ago.
~Please note that the Covid screening questionnaire signed at every dance is no longer required by SPC, however, anyone showing any of the symptoms described by the questionnaire will not be permitted in the building.
