SUMMARY:Small Explorers Learning Together: Under the Ancient Sea
DESCRIPTION:Small Explorers Learning Together is the Museum’s program for children ages 1 – 5 and their caregivers. In the Under the Ancient Sea class\, children and caregivers will be introduced to reptiles and sea creatures that lived millions of years ago. We will read “The Crocodile Who Didn’t Like Water” by Gemma Marino. After story time\, we will look at the fossils of Mosasaurus and Deinosuchus. Children can match pictures of each creature on the gallery walk. To finish our exploration of the sea\, there will be sensory\, observation-based\, and play-based activities available in the museum’s STEAM center. \nThe program is held on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9:30 am. SUMMARY:Intro to Improv in the Garden
DESCRIPTION:Kids get to explore the foundations of improv through a variety of games and activities in this 90-minute Intro to Improv workshop\, presented with McCarter Theatre Center and led by teaching artist Lillie Reising. Students will build confidence as they play\, create\, and perform their own original ideas! The program will be held in the fresh air of Morven’s sprawling garden\, though in the event of inclement weather\, it will be moved inside the modern Stockton Education Center. Registration is limited to ensure a great experience. A snack and juice is included with registration.

Children will begin the program with story time\, featuring books about corn\, vegetables\, and gardening. Following the stories\, farm staff will lead an interactive educational discussion about how corn grows\, what plants need to thrive\, and how farmers know when corn is ready to harvest. \nAfter the learning portion\, participants will head to the field to see corn stalks up close and pick their own ears of corn to take home. It’s a fun opportunity for children to experience firsthand how this summer vegetable grows. \nThe cost is $12.00 per child and includes the picked corn. See the wide array of crafts in Terhune’s farm fields. \nPam Mount’s Everything Summer Food Tent\, which offers tasty summer fare including hamburgers\, hot dogs\, homemade gazpacho\, salads and Terhune’s famous apple cider donuts.
