SUMMARY:Walk for Children - 2026 Save Soil Walkathon in New Jersey
DESCRIPTION:Join thousands across North America in 30+ cities to walk and raise awareness for Save Soil! \nOver 52% of the world’s farmable soil is degraded\, contributing to nutritional imbalances for 2 billion people. The next decade is critical to reversing this crisis—together we can bring awareness about soil health and secure the future of our children and our planet. \nSave Soil is a global people’s movement launched by Conscious Planet\, founded by Sadhguru\, to address an existential crisis – the rapid degradation of agricultural soils. Over the last three decades\, Save Soil has implemented a holistic strategy for soil revitalization through scalable farmer-driven projects\, policy advocacy\, and citizen awareness campaigns. \nThe movement is working with governments across the globe to shape soil policies\, and is supporting over 250\,000 farmers in India to transition to various other regenerative agricultural practices\, including agroforestry. In 2022\, Sadhguru rode a motorcycle 30\,000km across the globe in 100 days to raise mass awareness of the soil crisis. Through digital\, mass media\, and community engagements\, the Save Soil movement’s awareness campaigns have reached over 4.1 billion people globally\, creating a groundswell of support for soil-friendly policies and practices. We aim to bring back at least 3-6% organic matter in the soil\, based on regional conditions\, by bringing the land under shade from vegetation & enriching the soil through plant litter and animal waste. \nSave Soil is backed by the UN Environment Program\, UN Food and Agriculture Organisation\, UN Convention to Combat Desertification\, World Food Program\, and IUCN\, amongst others.

SUMMARY:Princeton French Film Festival Screening: Cartoonists: Footsoldiers of Democracy
DESCRIPTION:Princeton French Film Festival Screening:\nCartoonists: Footsoldiers of Democracy\n\n\nAbout the festival:\nConceived as a public humanities initiative\, a community-engaged project\, and an innovative promotion of the arts in Princeton\, this festival will celebrate cinema in all its richness and complexity. Open to everyone upon registration. \nAbout the movie:\nIn 2014\, one year before the Charlie Hebdo attacks\, filmmaker Stéphanie Valloatto collaborated with Plantu\, a longtime cartoonist for Le Monde\, to create a documentary about 12 crazy\, amazing\, funny and tragic political cartoonists from all around the world defend democracy at the risk of their lives and have fun with a pencil as only weapon. They are French\, Tunisian\, Russian\, Mexican\, American\, Chinese\, Algerian\, Burkinabese\, Ivorian\, Venezuelan\, Israelian and Palestinian. The film delves into the daily risks these artists face – often putting themselves on the front lines – and the powerful reactions and debates their work sparks.
