SUMMARY:Theater&...Flamenco\, Love and Lies by Zach Lee ‘26
DESCRIPTION:Theater&… is a series of presentations by seniors in the Program in Theater that demonstrates the power of theater to connect to\, reveal\, educate about\, and share a wide range of issues\, topics\, and experiences. Join Princeton seniors and fellow audience members for these unique one-night only explorations. Reading of Amapola\, an original Flamenco pop musical by Princeton senior Zach Lee. Albuquerque\, New Mexico is colloquially known as the Flamenco Capital of North America. In Amapola\, Lee examines how a musician might respond to being introduced to a new musical genre and how that changes their musical identity and expression. Amapola follows its protagonist\, Buskboy\, who quickly wraps himself up in a lie as he attempts to woo his new friend\, Sofía. As their relationship evolves\, Buskboy’s music matures and his lies deepen. The show balances themes of love and deception\, set to the vibrant Flamenco landscape of Albuquerque. \nAccessibility: The Drapkin Studio is an accessible venue. Guests in need of access accommodations are asked to contact the Lewis Center at LewisCenter@princeton.edu at least one week prior to the event date.

SUMMARY:Grand Homes & Gardens: Stratford Hall
DESCRIPTION:Blending history\, architecture\, and horticulture\, this year’s Grand Homes & Gardens speaker series\, Freedom at Home: Telling the Full Story of America’s Founding Homes and Gardens\, showcases the estates of signers of the Declaration of Independence\, telling the stories of the people who lived and worked in these grand spaces.  \nOn March 12\, Morven welcomes Dr. Gordon Blaine Steffey (Director of Research and the Jessie Ball duPont Memorial Library) for an illustrated presentation on Stratford Hall\, the boyhood home of Richard Henry Lee and Francis Lightfoot Lee. It was also the birthplace of Robert E. Lee\, General in Chief of the Armies of the Confederate States during the Civil War. Four generations of the Lee family lived at Stratford\, as did hundreds of enslaved Africans and African Americans who lived and labored at the plantation. Today\, the site stands as a model of Georgian architecture\, standing almost entirely as it did in the 1740s.  \nLight refreshments will be served. \nThe next programs in the series take place on March 26 and April 16.

SUMMARY:Lydia Darragh\, A Heroine of the American Revolution
DESCRIPTION:Join us on March 11 at 7:30 PM via Zoom as Robert N. Fanelli presents “Lydia Darragh\, A Heroine of the American Revolution.”  Who is Lydia Darragh?  She is famed for eavesdropping on British General William Howe’s staff as they planned a surprise attack\, then sneaking through the lines to give warning to American soldiers. Her actions are said to have saved George Washington’s army from a devastating ambush as it lay starving and freezing on the barren hills of Whitemarsh at the end of 1777. But did the secret she brought to the Patriots really prevent their defeat? Why would a professed pacifist choose to risk her life by intervening in military affairs? Who was the mysterious intelligence officer she met between the lines? Was her story even true? \n  \nLydia’s Tale: The Mystery of Lydia Darragh\, Irish Quaker\, Patriot Spy authored by Fanelli uncovers a myriad of previously unknown records\, knitting together for the first time the life and experiences of this remarkable heroine of the American Revolution who lived in the heart of Philadelphia. Behind her story\, we find an assertive woman who took an active hand in the affairs of her family and her community. \n  \nSpeaker Bio: \nRobert N. Fanelli is Secretary of the Washington Crossing American Revolution Round Table and a frequent contributor to the Journal of the American Revolution. He serves as a Trustee of the Swan Historical Foundation\, which owns an excellent collection of Revolutionary War artifacts on display at the Washington Crossing State Park Museum in Titusville\, New Jersey. He is particularly interested in Pennsylvania’s role in the American Revolution\, and has lived most of his life in southeastern Pennsylvania\, along the flanks of Edge Hill\, the site of an encounter between the American and British armies on December 7\, 1777. \n  \nFree Registration: https://shorturl.at/0dKuk  \n  \nAbout DRGP \nThe Delaware River Greenway Partnership (DRGP) sponsors lectures about different aspects of the Delaware River’s cultural\, recreational\, and natural heritage.
