Learn to draw herbs, flowers, and trees in Morven’s beautiful gardens with artist instructor Dressler Smith. Students at all skill levels will enjoy this four-week mini-course starting with introductory pencil drawing and ending with methods to add color. Bring artist pencils, sharpener, kneaded eraser, drawing pad, portable chair, and hat or some sun protection.  Registration exclusively through the Arts Council of Princeton.

America’s Space Hero: Buzz Aldrin Storytime at Morven

Astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the first two humans to land on the Moon. As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of this moon landing, and since Buzz Aldrin was one of Morven’s famous visitors during the Governors’ Era, the group will read the My Little Golden Book "About the First Moon Landing" by Charles Lovitt (Author), Bryan Sims (Illustrator) then  create a take-home rocket craft in Morven’s gardens.

Stargazing at Morven

Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton Outreach Chair, Gene Allen will present “The Night Sky and Our Place in It” illustrated lecture followed by a stargazing event in Morven’s backyard. Participants are invited to attend the 7:00 p.m. Twilight Tour prior to the lecture to learn about Morven’s residents who would have also gazed at the skies in earlier times. This is a shine only event!

July Victorian Pressed Flower Workshop

Spend an afternoon as Victorian women, such as Harriet Stockton might have, and create pressed flower art surrounded Morven’s historic gardens with Curator of Education Debra Lampert-Rudman. Learn the “love language” of flowers, enjoy an illustrated discussion on this Victorian art, and create artwork of your own special design suitable for framing. All flowers, materials, and art instruction provided. No previous experience required and space is limited, ages 12 and up. Ticket price includes same-day museum admission.
