SUMMARY:EVENING YOGA IN THE GARDENS WITH GRATITUDE YOGA
DESCRIPTION:Take your practice outside with Gratitude Yoga’s all-levels Vinyasa class\, open to everyone. This  weekly donation-based outdoor yoga class takes place in Morven’s beautiful gardens\, located in the heart of Princeton. Please bring a yoga mat\, a towel\, a water bottle\, and an open heart.  \n  \nClasses are offered on Wednesday evenings between July 8 and September 9 from 6-7 pm. Please note: there will be no practice on Wednesday\, August 26. \n  \nIn the event of rain\, the class is held inside Morven’s Stockton Education Center—a lovely\, peaceful space with large windows overlooking the garden.

DESCRIPTION:During your lunch break\, go behind-the-scenes of the museum with this free virtual talk by Morven Museum & Garden’s Curator & Registrar Jesse Gordon Simons\, discussing the painting Congress Voting Independence.  \nCurrently on display in Morven’s exhibition Five Independent Souls: The Signers from New Jersey\, this painting by Robert Edge Pine is the first known American depiction of the vote for Independence\, predating the more famous version by John Trumbull on display in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda by more than thirty years. Congress Voting Independence is considered the most accurate known portrayal of the Assembly Room of Independence Hall\, where the vote for independence was taken and where the Declaration was signed. Featuring over 100 extraordinary historic artifacts—including manuscripts\, paintings\, furniture\, and personal objects on loan from collections across the country—Five Independent Souls examines the lives\, ideals\, and contradictions of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence for New Jersey.  \nThe curators will share stories about the exhibition’s development and insight into content beyond the gallery walls. The tour is limited to 20 people. Pre-registration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Grab a blanket\, some lawn chairs\, and your friends and family for a free community concert marking the 250th anniversary of the United States at the home of a signer of the Declaration of Independence and New Jersey’s first Governor’s Mansion. The Blawenburg Band performs “Listening to the Revolution: 250 Years of American Music” on Morven’s historic front lawn.  \n  \nThe Blawenburg Band was established in 1890 in the small central New Jersey town of Blawenburg. The band is known as one of the oldest community bands in the state. It currently has 75 members and is led by conductor Dr. Jerry E. Rife. \n  \nPre-registration for the concert is requested. In the event of inclement weather\, it will be held the following night on Friday\, July 31.

Join Morven\, the home of Signer Richard Stockton\, for our public program series Generation Declaration shedding light on little known or underrepresented aspects of America’s founding document.  \n  \nOn July 19\, Morven welcomes historian and leading expert on the Declaration of Independence Dr. Emily Sneff for “When the Declaration of Independence Was News.” The program focuses on the nation’s founding document at the moment of its creation in 1776\, before anyone knew what the legacy of the Declaration would be or if the United States would win the war against Great Britain. It explores how the Declaration was communicated to people in the new nation and around the Atlantic world and reveals the stories of the many people involved in the process of declaring independence\, from printers to soldiers to diplomats to translators.  \n  \nCopies of Sneff’s latest book\, When the Declaration of Independence Was News\, will be available for purchase and signing. Registration includes museum admission on July 19 from 10 am-2 pm.
