Blessing of the animals at Hopewell United Methodist Church
As part of its Earth Awareness month, Hopewell United Methodist Church held a blessing of the animals event last Sunday at the church in Hopewell Borough. Pastor Kate Hillis and the members of the church celebrated creation through a blessing the community’s pets and animal friends. The community brought dogs, chickens and a pet goldfish to be blessed by the pastor. Every animal including received an individual blessing. “Caring for and being thankful for our pets is one way of showing love, care, and concern for the Earth,” said Rev. Hillis. The community was invited to stay after the blessing and enjoy a picnic lunch with friends and pets.
