Diwali drive-thru food collection to be held Saturday to benefit South Brunswick Food Pantry
The Kendall Park Chapter of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangha will host a Diwali drive-thru food collection event this Saturday, Nov. 28 to benefit the South Brunswick Food Pantry. The demand for food from the pantry has skyrocketed since the pandemic began in March.
Suggested items for donation include canned fruits, canned vegetables, rice, quinoa, cereal, pasta sauce, peanut butter, juice, low-sodium soups, ketchup, oatmeal, and other packaged foods.
The food drive is an initiative of a group of organizations and individuals who believe that service to humanity is service to divinity. The food drive is conducted annually in honor of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness.
Donations can be dropped off from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Woodlot Park, which is located at 124 New Road. The park is located about six miles north of Princeton. New Road is accessible from Route 1 and Route 27.
