Todd Galla at the shore.

Todd Christopher Galla, 51, of Lawrenceville passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, Todd was raised in Montvale prior to moving to Lawrenceville 18 years ago. He was a 1989 graduate of Don Bosco Preparatory High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Thomas Edison State University. He was a graduate of the 86th Class of the Trenton Police Academy. As a young man, he earned the highest rank achievable in the Boy Scouts of America as an Eagle Scout.

A police officer with the Cranbury Police Department who served as the PBA Local 405 union president, Todd was a certified firearms instructor, was active in National Night Out, and was an annual participant in the Police Unity Tour, helping to raise awareness of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Prior to becoming a police officer, Todd began his career in public service with Trenton EMS, rising to the level of supervisor. Todd was then hired as a police officer for the City of Trenton, followed by the Hightstown Borough Police Department and later the Cranbury Township Police Department, where he proudly served until the time of his death.

Todd treasured every moment spent with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, and spending summers at the family shore home. Todd loved coaching his daughter in softball and competitive soccer with the Cranbury Soccer Club.

In addition to his dedication to his profession and police family, Todd was a dedicated husband and father. He cherished his family and embraced every moment spent with them. Todd will be remembered by his family as a guardian angel and a beacon of unconditional love. They remember him as caring, compassionate, and humble, never aware of how extraordinary he was and the impact he had on so many lives. Todd also will be remembered for his beautiful smile, especially when speaking of his children.

Predeceased by his father-in-law Jerry Gorski Jr., Todd is survived by his loving wife Denise Gorski-Galla, daughter Jenna Rose Galla, son James Gorski Jr. and wife Danielle, son Connor John Galla, parents Richard and Margaret Galla, grandson Brayden James Gorski, brother-in-law Jerry Gorski III, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph and Lisa Gorski, niece Kathryn Lyn Gorski, and mother-in-law Katherine P. Gorski.
