Michael T. Coughlin of West Windsor died on July 5. He was 72.
Born and raised in Carteret, Michael relocated to West Windsor in 2011, where he has been a resident ever since.
Michael’s education brought him to Trenton State College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English. He later continued his studies at Rutgers University and went on to achieve a master’s degree in labor studies. His career path led him to General Motors, where he began as an assemblyman in the plant. He retired as a Union Executive for UAW Local 595, Linden, in 2008. Michael was very active within GM throughout his career spanning more than three decades.
Away from his career, Michael was an avid golfer. He found solace on the greens and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with family and friends. Michael was such a passionate golfer that he even played several times in Ireland. While at home, Tamarack Golf Course was his frequented course. Michael was also very active within his home’s community. He could frequently be found playing tennis with the neighbors and served on the community board for 6 years as vice president.
Above all else, Michael was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a fun person to be around and was light-hearted and sarcastic. He enjoyed spending time with his family whether around the house or on family trips to OBX. His grandchildren helped Michael feel like a kid again. He loved to get on their level and play away the day.
