Former Princeton Woolworth Co. employee of more than five decades Jennie Perone dies at 93
Jennie (Jane) Perone of Princeton passed away peacefully on June 15 at Serenity Hospice Care, Hamilton. She was 93.
Perone was born in Princeton and resided there until her health recently declined. She worked for the FW Woolworth Co in Princeton for 52 years. She was an ardent supporter of all Princeton University sports teams. She loved the Jersey shore, especially her beloved Manasquan Beach. But her greatest joy was cooking for her family and friends. Every Sunday a lavish meal was served to all.
Jennie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Perone; her parents, Maria and Salvatore Boccanfuso; her sisters, Philomena Souza and Anna Intartaglia, her brother Frank Boccanfuso, her son-in-law Joseph Trani, and her granddaughter Kathi DeVito Harris.
She is survived by her daughters, Patti Trani and Sharon Perone (Carlos), sons John Perone (Danielle) and Scott Perone (Melissa); Grandchildren Dara DeVito Gutin (Rus), Jason Perone (Emily) and Garrett Perone: Great-grandchildren Rocco and Sofia Gutin, Jake and Samantha Harris, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 20 at 9 a.m. from the Mather Hodge Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St Paul’s Church 216 Nassau Street in Princeton. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
