Judy Ann Brkal, longtime South Brunswick Recreation Department Secretary, dies at 79

On Wednesday, August 7, Judy Brkal, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend took her last breath of a courageous battle surrounded by her loving family. She was 79.

Born in Princeton, she was a lifelong South Brunswick resident. Judy retired in 2010 with over 25 years of service as an administrative secretary with the South Brunswick Township Recreational Department. She was a past member of the Rocky Hill Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Monmouth Junction Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Judy loved spending time with her family and friends playing card games, taking casino trips, and watching Hallmark movies.

Daughter of the late Edna Odolph (Bossombery) and John and Josephine Odolph, sister of the late Dolores Aler and her husband Harold, mother-in-law of the late Christopher Rowe Sr, mother and father-in-law Susan and Sam Brkal she is survived by her husband of 57 years Milan John Brkal, 2 daughters Tammy Rowe, Sherry Brkal, 2 sisters Liz Chmielewski and her husband Ron, Donna Aler, 2 grandchildren Christopher Rowe, Lyndsay Woodcock and her husband Owen, a great-granddaughter Macie Woodcock, several nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 10, at noon from the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation www.parkinson.org.
