Winter storm warning in effect until 1 a.m. Monday for Princeton region
The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly has issued a winter storm warning that is in effect until 1 a.m. Monday for Mercer, Somerset, Sussex, Warren, Morris, and Hunterdon counties.
Some areas of the state that were part of a winter storm advisory were upgraded to a storm warning, and the duration of the warning was extended to Monday, as of 9:36 a.m. on Sunday.
Snowfall of five to seven inches is possible. Wind gusts could be as high as 35 miles per hour.
Roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult, and blowing snow could significantly reduce driving visibility.
Snowfall rates of up to an inch per hour could develop at times on Sunday afternoon. Temperatures are expected to fall into the teens Sunday night and remain below freezing for several days. As a result, icy and slippery road conditions could persist.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
