After the storm: Bitter cold, icy roads in the Princeton region

Forecasters say temperatures will be in the low to mid-teens across much of the area Monday, with only a slow and gradual warmup expected beginning midweek.

When the wind is factored in, it will feel even colder. Wind chills are expected to range from 0 to 5 degrees above zero, with even lower readings in parts of northern New Jersey.

If you head out, dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and use extra caution on roads, sidewalks and other untreated surfaces, where refreezing could make conditions especially slick.

Another bitterly cold night is expected on Monday, with lows again in the teens. Winds will be lighter, around 10 to 15 mph, but wind chills will still drop into the single digits and low teens.

There is also the potential for a few light snow showers on Monday, mainly northwest of the I-95 corridor. Any additional snowfall is expected to be minor.

By Tuesday, temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-20s to mid-30s, with winds of 5 to 10 mph keeping wind chills in the teens and low 20s. A warmup arrives on Wednesday, when highs are expected to climb into the upper 30s to upper 40s.
