35-year Princeton Post Office veteran Joseph Simone Jr. dies at 84

Joseph J. Simone Jr. of Hamilton Square passed peacefully on Feb. 13 at The Gardens at Monroe in Monroe. He was 84.

Joe was born in Princeton and lived in Hamilton Square for more than 40 years.

Joe worked at the Princeton Post Office until retiring after 35 years of service. An avid hunter and fisherman, his pursuits took him across the United States and into parts of Canada, with many trophies to show for his accuracy. Joe attended St. Paul’s Grammar School and graduated from Princeton High School, Class of 1960. He honorably served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War.

Joe was always there for his family. His devotion to his significantly handicapped son, James, whom he cared for for 35 years until his passing, was deeply admired.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Katherine Simone; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Stanzeski; his brother-in-law, Anthony Granato; and his son, James J. Simone. He is survived by his wife, Kim; his sister, Rosemary Granato; his brother-in-law, Joseph Stanzeski; nieces Karen Granato, Teresa (James) Troyano, and Toni (Carlos) Granato-Chan; nephews Brandon Stanzeski and Kenneth Rubin; and grand-nephews Jack and Dante Troyano and Phoenix Granato-Chan.

A viewing will be held at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Parish, 214 Nassau Street, Princeton, NJ, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Princeton Cemetery, 29 Greenview Avenue, Princeton, NJ.
