Allegiant returns to Trenton-Mercer Airport with new Florida routes

Allegiant Air will launch new nonstop service from Trenton-Mercer Airport next year as part of a nationwide expansion that adds 30 routes and introduces four new markets, the company announced this week.

The budget airline offered three flights from Trenton-Mercer Airport to Florida destinations for two years, but cut the routes in April of 2018. Since then, Frontier Airlines has been the only carrier operating out of the Ewing-based airport.

The Las Vegas–based carrier said the new flights, which begin rolling out in February, will broaden its network to 35 cities and strengthen its strategy of linking smaller population centers with popular leisure destinations. Introductory fares start as low as $39 one way.

The announcement represents one of Allegiant’s largest single expansions in recent years and includes new service to La Crosse, Wis., Columbia, Mo., and Philadelphia, in addition to the return to Trenton-Mercer Airport.

Trenton set to gain three Florida routes

For New Jersey travelers, the biggest change comes in Trenton, where Allegiant will launch three nonstop routes to Florida. Beginning in mid-February 2026, Allegiant will offer nonstop service from Trenton-Mercer Airport to:

  • Fort Lauderdale, Fla., via Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, starting Feb. 19 with fares from $49 one way.*
  • Punta Gorda, Fla., via Punta Gorda Airport, starting Feb. 20 with fares from $49 one way.*
  • St. Pete–Clearwater, Fla., via St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport, starting Feb. 20 with fares from $49 one way.

With the addition of Trenton and three other new markets, Allegiant continues to grow its footprint beyond traditional large hubs, opting instead for a model built around point-to-point flying and low fares.

  • La Crosse, Wis., via La Crosse Regional Airport
  • Philadelphia, via Philadelphia International Airport
  • Columbia, Mo., via Columbia Regional Airport

Routes from these cities will launch throughout the first half of 2026.

“We’re thrilled to continue Allegiant’s growth by adding these new routes,” Drew Wells, the airline’s chief commercial officer, said in a written statement. “Our mission has always been to connect travelers to world-class destinations at an affordable price. These additions provide convenient options for leisure travelers and reflect our commitment to expanding service where demand is strong.”
