A new yoga and wellness studio has opened in Plainsboro, offering a space focused on movement, mindfulness and community connection in the greater Plainsboro–Princeton area.

Om Life Living Yoga, founded by longtime yoga teacher and wellness educator Janice Liou, officially opened this month after years of planning. The studio will mark its opening with a public celebration on Jan. 4, including a ribbon cutting, featured classes, and an open house with live music and wellness activities.

Liou said the studio represents the realization of an 18-year vision to create a place where multiple wellness disciplines can coexist.

“The inspiration for Om Life Living Yoga has been with me since my very first yoga class,” Liou said. “I dreamed of a space that integrated yoga, holistic medicine, Ayurveda, sports therapy and nutrition, all working together in harmony.”

The nearly 5,000-square-foot studio at 5 Schalks Crossing Road is designed to offer a retreat-like environment, intentionally separating visitors from the pace and distractions of daily life. Liou said the goal was to create a welcoming, calming space where people feel supported and connected.

The studio’s name reflects Liou’s personal journey with yoga. She said her relationship with the practice evolved from early skepticism to a deep commitment that eventually led her to teaching and opening her own studio.

Classes at Om Life Living Yoga are built around three core pillars: Growth, Balance and Connection. Liou said the approach emphasizes both challenge and ease, encouraging physical development alongside emotional resilience and self-awareness.

“Our classes aren’t meant to be overly comfortable, nor so extreme that connection is lost,” Liou said. “Each session is a journey that invites exploration and self-discovery.”

The studio welcomes students of all experience levels and offers a range of classes, from playful and energetic sessions to slower, more meditative practices. Liou said the broader mission is to foster a sense of community that extends beyond the studio walls.

“When people feel happy, empowered, and inspired, that energy carries outward,” she said. “That ripple effect is what we hope to create.”

Om Life Living Yoga is now open and offering classes to the public. More information about schedules and events is available at www.omlifeliving.com.
