Not in Our Town Princeton and the E Pluribus Unum Project will host a free online discussion on de facto school segregation and educational equity in New Jersey on Monday, March 2 at 7 p.m.

The program will feature educational consultant Antika Singh and will center on the New York Emmy Award–nominated short documentary “The Third Rail,” which Singh co-produced. The film examines the ongoing lawsuit Latino Action Network v. State of New Jersey, filed in 2018, which challenges segregation in New Jersey public schools. New Jersey’s schools rank among the most segregated in the nation.

Singh, a second-generation South Asian American educator and founder of Empowered Voices, holds a master’s degree in education from Bank Street College of Education and previously taught history for 12 years in independent schools. Her work focuses on inclusive curriculum development, professional development for educators, and youth programming. Recent projects include collaborations with the New York City Department of Education’s Office of Community Schools and Milwaukee Public Schools.

The discussion is part of Not in Our Town Princeton’s ongoing “Continuing Conversations” series, typically held on the first Monday of most months. The organization is a multiracial, multifaith community group focused on promoting racial justice and inclusive communities.

The E Pluribus Unum Project is a New Jersey nonprofit that advocates for inclusive K–12 curricula reflecting the diversity of public school communities statewide.

The event will be held via Zoom. Registration is free and available through the Not in Our Town Princeton events calendar.
