Lois Harrod and Chris Reed

Princeton Makes, a local artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press will host their Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. at the new Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center. The store is located between Princeton Nassau Pediatrics and Rita’s.

The December event will feature poets Lois Harrod and Chris Reed, followed by an open mic for up to 10 audience members who wish to read their original work.

Harrod’s 19th poetry collection, The Bed the Size of a Small Country, was released in September. Her recent books include Spat (2021), Woman (2020), Nightmares of the Minor Poet (2016), and several chapbooks. A Dodge poet and longtime educator, she teaches at the Center for Modern Aging in Princeton.

Reed’s first poetry collection, Two Years and Two Months, published by Finishing Line Press, was released last month. The book recounts the period her mother lived with her in Princeton during the pandemic. Reed, a retired Unitarian Universalist minister, served the UU Congregation of Princeton for 22 years and was a chaplain at Princeton University for 10 years.

Princeton Makes is a cooperative of 37 local artists working in media including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles and jewelry. Ragged Sky Press is a small cooperative press that works closely with authors and focuses on mature voices, overlooked poets and women’s perspectives.
