spinnerets: Exhibition by Gi (Ginny) Huo

September 19 • 10:00 am

fi Ginny Gi Huo spinnerets still AR9J2Y

2024-26 Princeton Arts Fellow Gi (Ginny) Huo’s work considers the legacies of belief systems and its geopolitical impact, through mapping narratives of land and sites, tracing Huo’s familial lineages and religious upbringing. The title of the show, spinnerets, refers to the organ of the spider that creates the silk. Inspired by survival techniques found in nature, such as camouflaging and ballooning, the work draws parallels practiced in human form. In various art mediums such as drawing, sculpture, photography and film, Huo’s work navigates through perception/truth, translation/interpretation, and the systematic mechanisms of selling a fantasy.
