Princeton University’s program in Creative Writing kicks-off a year-long celebration of its 80th anniversary with readings by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa, National Book Award-winning writer Maxine Hong Kingston, and Ojibwe novelist and non-fiction writer David Treuer, a Princeton alumnus. These are three of the 80 writers helping to celebrate the milestone anniversary. Free and open to the public.

In "We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball", Kadir Nelson tells the story of Negro League baseball from its beginnings in the 1920s through its decline after Jackie Robinson crossed over to the majors in 1947. Outstanding writing and illustrations inspire understanding and affection for these lost heroes of the national game. Following the reading, the group will take a stroll through the Morven baseball exhibition and children will be inspired to create their own baseball cards.…
