School Bus Hits West Windsor Police Car

A West Windsor police officer’s patrol car was struck by a bus early this morning while the car was stopped on Cranbury Road near Stobbe Lane, police said.

Just after 7 a.m., Officer Frank Bal was hit head on by a Rick Bus Co. school bus while he was stopped on the northbound side of Cranbury Road. Bal’s car was positioned to warn drivers about icy road conditions. The patrol car was marked and all of its lights were on, police said.

The school bus, driven by Margarita Matos of the Rick Bus Co., was traveling southbound and slid into Bal’s vehicle. The school bus had 20 students in it. Neither the students nor Matos were injured. Bal suffered a neck injury and was taken to the University Medical Center at Princeton by West Windsor Emergency Medical Services. He was released later in the day.
