Suspect in Princeton Burglaries Nabbed

Hastings

Police have arrested a suspect in a string of nighttime burglaries that took place in the Princeton area in recent months.

On Friday, 50-year-old Walter Lee Hastings was arrested at the Howard Johnson Express on Route 1 in New Brunswick, where he was living.

The arrest was the culmination of a coordinated investigation by the Princeton Borough Police Department and several police departments in Mercer and Middlesex Counties, as well as the Mercer and Middlesex County prosecutor’s offices.

Hastings  is being held in the Middlesex County Correctional Facility.

Details concerning charges and other related information regarding the ongoing investigations into the burglaries committed in Princeton Borough will be released as the cases develop, police said.

In recent months, items have been stolen from several unlocked homes and cars in the Princeton area, most recently in the eastern section of Princeton Borough. Police have alerted residents to lock their doors and make sure their windows are secure.
